BLUE INTERLACED L'S, DATE LETTER G FOR 1759 AND PAINTER'S MARK FOR XHROUUET

With loop handle enriched with gilt foliage and painted in colours with a loose bouquet of flowers and fruit and scattered sprays beneath a border of blue and gilt mosaïque pattern edged with gilt scrolls and diaper (cover pierced for mount)--7½in. (19cm.) high

Lot Essay

This pattern, which was used at Sèvres as early as 1756, was made famous by the service given to the Elector Palatine in 1760 and now in the Residenzmuseum, Munich.
