Lot Essay

The stencilled marks are those of the Manuftre de Foëscy Passage Violet No 5 B. Poissonière à Paris. Although ownership of the factory changed over the course of several years, from November 23, 1832 to 1835 it was owned in partnership by Louis André and the bankers André & Cottier. In 1836, the factory moved to 41, rue des Petits-Ècuries. Marked examples are rare.
