(7 7/8 x 4 7/8in.), original green blind-stamped ripple-grained cloth, spine gilt, Freeman variant "a", uncut, brown endpapers, original binders' ticket of Edmonds & Remnants on rear pastedown, inner joints cracked and the text block a little loose, one half-inch tear at top of upper joint, slight wear to ends of spine, some spotting, mostly at front and back, title slightly creased, modern green quarter morocco slipcase.
FIRST EDITION, half-title, folding lithographed diagram by W. West, 32-page publisher's catalogue dated June 1859 bound in at end (Freeman state 3).
