CARL EBERHARD, GRAFF TRUCHSÄSS VON WOLFEGG. Artzney Mittel vor Pferdte in allen Aufstossen und Kranckheiten. 427 leaves, quarto, 200 x 173mm. (7 7/8 x 6 3/4in.), bound in contemporary alum-tawed pigskin over wooden boards, 2 clasps, blue edges; occasional slight discoloration from penetration of ink.

STEUR, JOHANN MARTIN. Nutzliches und wohl ein gerichtess pferdt Arzney buch...vor alle Kranckhheiten und zufählen der pferdt höchst nutzleich zugebrauchen 1740. 32 leaves, folio, 322 x 213mm. (12 5/8 x 8 3/8in.), plus five leaves laid in (various dimensions); bound in contemporary half vellum with paste paper sides over pasteboards, four tawed leather ties; one folding leaf detached and laid in, spine frayed with portions missing at top and bottom, corners and edges worn.
Written in dark brown ink in neat German cursive by two principal hands, some contemporary additions to the atlas in other hands, the atlas with 25 drawings of horses in brown ink with gray and black wash.
Both the text, in two parts with index, and the atlas contain numerous recipes for medicaments for horses, as well as sections on topics such as "Wie man an einen Pford erkennen und bemercken sölle," or "Die fähler, welche ein Cavallier im Ringl, oder korfrennen vermeiden solle." The drawings in the atlas show horses in various poses, with various ailments, and include a blood letting chart for horses (on the detached folding sheet).
