Lot Essay

Beaudin was an architect, mason, sculptor, painter and print-maker. He studied at the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs in Paris until 1915 and after World War I he met Juan Gris, whose painting had an important influence on his formal ideas. Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler was Beaudin's dealer in France; in 1949 Curt Valentin gave him his first one-man exhibition in New York.
