Autograph letter signed to Cesar Rodney, Washington, 21 February 1809, 1 1/2 pages, 4to, a good letter regarding the patent controversy over the steam boat, "a serious and important controversy" between Fulton and Stevens and the latter's hope to see a copy of Fulton's patent, a request which the Secretary of State reffered to Rodney; Pendleton, as Stevens' attorney, reports that Stevens "has expended very large sums...upon plans and projects of this kind" and hopes to avoid infringing upon Fulton's patent and to avoid "expensive litigation"--MEAGHER, THOMAS, Brigadier General. Autograph letter signed to "My Dear Garnett," "Head Quarters, Irish Brigade," 2 October 1862, 3 pages, 4to, asking him to join his staff as an aide--HOOSACK, DAVID. Autograph letter signed to William Lee, New York, 24 February 1828, 2 pages, 4to, commenting on the death of Mr. Clinton: "the Jackson cause loses also much of its support, for a large portion of its advocates were derived from the friends of Mr. Clinton"--And 20 others, including Brig. Genl. Michael Corcoran, Fernando Wood, Kossuth (ALS, 1851), Brigham Young (clipped signature), Palmerston (LS, 1828, granting a pension), and five indentures, 1787, relating to Blackwell's Island, NY); together 23 items.
