MALCOLM TO ELIJAH

An enthusiastic early letter, written not long after Malcolm's conversion to Islam, on temple affairs, conversions of "lostfounds," etc.; it clearly shows how Malcolm revered Elijah Muhammad and how he looked to him for guidance in all matters. "Please thank all of your wonderful family for the warm hospitality that I received while there. And know this: I came away with a better understanding of many things than ever before... I thank ALLAH for letting me witness this....and you can bet that with the help of ALLAH, I shall do my utmost to make ALL respect the Family of MUHAMMAD. All praise is due ALLAH, the BEST-KNOWER. Junior wanted to know how many FISH were at [Temple No.] 7 the Sunday of my absence. Please tell him that there were 27 lostfounds, and ALLAH. Bro Joseph opened up for James 7x who taught very well, and ALLAH made 16 of the lostfounds get up and take out the form. So you see, Dear Apostle, ALLAH will send you some Laborers for this Harvest. The Brother taught very well. All praise is due to ALLAH. Enclosed in this letter is a check for $839.50, for the Mutual Investment Trust Fund. All praise is due ALLAH. How will it be recorded in their "Bank Books"? I have to explain this to them when I tell them of the new set-up, so will refrain from making the change until further instructions are forthcoming..."
