Vase-shaped, on spreading circular foot applied with a band of ovals below a band of chased flowerheads within copper and niello stylized foliate scrolls, the body chased with elaborate acanthus scrolls and flowerheads enclosed by bands of similar copper and niello foliage, with bifurcated dolphin scroll handles, inscribed under rim PRESENTED TO MELVILLE E. STONE BY MEMBERS OF THE ASSOCIATED PRESS IN RECOGNITION OF HIS GREAT SERVICES AS GENERAL MANAGER ANNUAL MEETING, MAY 19, 1897, marked with Columbian Exposition mark--11 7/8in. high; in fitted wood chest
