lithograph with hand-coloring and touches of gum arabic, 1853, on wove paper, the colors fresh, with margins, very pale staining in the image and margins, some very skillfull repairs in the top right margin corner just affecting the image, pale remains of old staining on the reverse, otherwise generally in very good condition, framed

This rare and desirable subject was included in the original list of The Best Fifty. The scene depicts Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Currier in a horse-drawn sleigh, and was published before James Merritt Ives joined Nathaniel Currier to form the famous partnership of Currier and Ives.
