A FEDERAL MAHOGANY INLAID LADIES' TAMBOUR WRITING DESK
MASSACHUSETTS, 1790-1810

In two parts: the upper section with rectangular top above tambour doors that open to a fitted interior with two long drawers over eight pigeonholes, flanked by inlaid pilasters with Ionic capitals; the lower section with fold-out hinged writing surface above two long drawers with string inlay flanked by inlaid pilasters with arched tops, on four square tapering legs wth bellflower inlay and cuffs (sections of cuffs on front legs are missing)--46 3/4in. high, 40in. wide, 20 3/4in. deep
