Lot Essay

The composition of the present lot derives from a Lorenzo di Credi in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, which served as a prototype for tondos by the young Fra Bartolomeo in the Alte Pinakothek; and by the so-called Master of the Santa Maria sul Prato in the Museo Horne, Florence.
