MAKER'S MARK OF JOHN SAYRE, NEW YORK, CIRCA 1810; THE TONGS MAKER'S MARK OF JOEL SAYRE, NEW YORK, CIRCA 1810
Comprising teapot, stand, covered sugar bowl and sugar tongs, cream jug and waste-bowl; the teapot, cream jug and sugar bowl faceted oval, on spreading faceted oval foot, the waste-bowl faceted circular, on spreading circular foot, each bright-cut engraved over all with bands of stylized folaige and wrigglework, each side engraved with an oval wrigglework cartouche within scrolling wheat sheaves, on side vacant, the other engraved with script initials JSP, the domed covers rising to an oval pedestal supported a faceted oval urn finial, the stand raised on six scroll feet and engraved with similar decoration enclosing a similar vacant cartouche, the U-shaped tongs with acorn tips, each marked--length of teapot 12 1/2in.
