A SILVER TANKARD
BOSTON, CIRCA 1760

Tapering cylindrical, on spreading circular molded foot, applied with a mid-band, the front engraved with a coat-of-arms and crest within an asymmetrical foliate scroll and rocaille cartouche, the scroll handle with molded drop, disk terminal and engraved with initials G over N*L, the hinged stepped domed cover with scroll thumbpiece and surmounted by a flame finial, apparently unmarked--9 1/4in. high

Provenance
The arms are those of Goodwin. The initials NLG are those of Nathaniel Goodwin and his wife Lydia Lazarus (1724-1801) of Plymouth, Massachusetts, married in 1745.
