The arms are those of Winthrop.

This cann is one of a pair. The mate, with identical engraving, is in the Garvan Collection at the Yale University Art Gallery (illustrated in Kathryn C. Buhler and Graham Hood, American Silver, 1970, fig. 748, pp. 146-147). The Winthrop arms also appear on a coffee pot by Daniel Henchman and a cann by Samuel Casey, both circa 1760 (Buhler & Hood, op.cit., figs. 221 and 483).
