Tapering cylindrical, on molded foot, with double scroll handle with molded drop and flying scroll terminal, the hinged flat cover with scroll thumbpiece and engraved with a mirror cypher SB, engraved under base with scratch weight 31ozs. 4dwt, marked MM conjoined, Buhler mark a--6 7/8in. high

Lot Essay

The cypher SB is thought to be that of Samuel Bush.

A related tankard by Myers engraved with a similar mirror cypher on the cover is in the collection of the Yale University Art Gallery (illustrated in Kathryn C. Buhler & Graham Hood, American Silver, 1970, fig. 654, pp. 96-97).
