BENALLA POLICE LOCK-UP, pair of original male section iron hinge mounts from the door, pair of Ventilator mesh grills, granite doorstep
The morning after the destruction of the Kelly Gang, the Melbourne photographer, Alfred Burman, persuaded the police to hang the stiffened corpse of Joe Byrne before the door of the Benalla Policee Lock-up. Burman's colleage, J.W.Lindt, recorded the scene. The original door is now in the Benalla Historical Society's collection.
