Comprising a Warrant Officer's sword and belt; a beaver bicorn with grosgrain rosette and gold lace in original black japanned tin with brass label; East and West Africa Medal and bar for 'WITU 1890' and inscribed 'J.H. Thompson PO1CL HMS BOADICEA'; three mounted artillery shells on a wooden plinth; two photographs of Thompson in uniform; and a facsimile of his notebook

Lot Essay

Petty Officer 1st Class John Henry Thompson served with the Royal Navy as part of the Australian Station. His family lived in Adelaide, South Australia, but Thompson died in Portsmouth as a result of an injury received on board ship off the coast of Queensland.
