It appears that this rifle saw service with the New South Wales Artillery. 'A' battery from this regiment were sent to the Sudan in 1885.

With 84 cm. (33 in.) seven groove barrel, sighted to 1000 yards, marked 'Henry's Patent Rifling', to action marked 'WRA & A Co 1871' and 'Henry's Patent', steel cleaning rod, sling swivels, bayonet boss, the stock stamped 'NSW AA38.'
