A FINE CASED PAIR OF 50-BORE FLINTLOCK OFFICER'S PISTOLS

With browned twist octagonal sighted barrels, case-hardened recessed patent breeches each with platinum line, and platinum lined maker's stamp and touch hole, engraved case-hardened tongs each incorporating the back sight, signed engraved case-hardened detented locks each with safety-catch, roller and rain proof pan, the steels each engraved 'Joseph Manton Patent', and numbered respectively '6424' and '6425', figured walnut-half stocks, chequered butts, engraved blued iron mounts including serial numbered trigger guards, silver escutcheons, blued trigger-plates, each with pineapple finial, horn fore-end caps, original horn-tipped ram rods, much original finish: in original lined and fitted mahogany case with accessories including 3-way flask covered in red leather, the lid with trade label, flush fitting carrying handle and circular escutcheon
