Lot Essay

Hermannus Ribbius and Elisabeth Nagge had four sons: Willem (+ 1642); Johannes (+ 1648); Gerlacius (1612-1671) and Hermannus (dates unknown). As their father all four sons were vicars. The present coat-of-arms was painted for one of these four sons (see Nederlands patriciaat, 1918, p.331 and Nederlandsche Leeuw, 1980, p.204).
