Lot Essay

Little is known of the artist. C. Kramm, Hollandsche en Vlaamsche Kunstschilders, Beeldhouwers, Graveurs en Bouwmeesters, II, 1857, p.985, records him as born in Haarlem and active in Amsterdam from 1775 onwards.
