Rigby's have kindly confirmed that the rifle was completed circa 1885 for Rogers, Rock & Co. who also ordered, at varying times, an extensive array of additional gold-inlaid and encrusted Rigby rifles with associated equipment. The entries record that Rogers, Rock & Co. were acting for an Indian Nawab and further confirm that the price of this particular rifle, at ¨126, was almost three times the cost of a best gun - an interesting testament to its quality and to its importance for this particular agent
