A COMPOSED PAIR OF 12-BORE BOXLOCK EJECTOR GUNS BY WESTLEY RICHARDS, No. 14771 (1) and 15079 (2), scroll-back action-bodies, best foliate-scroll engraving with traces of hardening-colour, the undersides of the action-bodies additionally gold-encrusted and engraved with the heads of labradors and the triggerguards similarly embellished with running hares, well-figured stocks with recoil-pads, the blacked damascus barrels with game-ribs
Weight 6lb. 10oz., 15¼in. pulls, 30in. barrels, all approx. cyl., 2½in. chambers, nitro reproof (No. 1 right barrel-thickness marginal)
Westley Richards have kindly confirmed that the guns were completed circa 1891 (No. 1) and 1895 (No. 2). The gold work appears to have been applied to the original game-engraved scenes
