The blade honzukuri, iori-mune, torii-zori with extended chugissaki, itame hada with 'mixed metal' appearance, hamon and boshi obscured, the ura carved with a short double groove and bonji, the omote with a ken and bonji, ubu-nakago, signed Soshu ju Kunihiro, 19th century, 70.5cm.; in a dark red textured lacquer saya (damaged), single copper menuki of horses, iron mounts comprising fuchi-kashira with gilt nunomezogan waves, large tsuba pierced with mushrooms and with a stylised design in gilt and a kojiri carved and gilt with dragonflies
