A GROUP OF FIVE KENZAN STYLE BOWLS
Decorated in iron-brown under a clear crackled glaze, the deep evenly turned bowls decorated on the outside and the centre of the interiors with iron-brown scrolling flowering six-petalled flowers boldly etched through the brown glaze to show white under the clear crackled overglaze, the interiors' grounds enamelled with vigorously painted fruiting branches overlapping and laden with thick yellow enamel fruit suggesting luxuriant persimmon, with signature Kenzan

Lot Essay

Eiraku Wazan (1823-1895) worked primarily in Kyoto and specialised in producing ceramics with textures similar to patterned cloth. He was a follower of Kenzan
