A GERMAN HUNTING HANGER with broad hollow-ground blade etched at the forte with flowers and panels containing, on one face, hounds pursuing a boar, and on the other a German couplet about the hunter, silver cruciform hilt comprising short quillons with dog-head terminals, and lion-head pommel forming a back-strap, and ribbed horn grip with engraved silver ferrule, early 19th Century; and another, with hollow-ground saw-backed blade, the silver hilt comprising downturned shell cast in relief with sprays of foliage, slender knuckle-guard and pommel-cap similarly decorated with strapwork and foliage, short rear quillon with acorn terminal, and fluted horn grip, late 18th Century, probably French
