A FRENCH SILVER-HILTED SMALL-SWORD with blade of hollow triangular section etched at the base with an inscription (worn) relating to a sword-cutler on the Pont St. Michel, Paris, the hilt of characteristic form decorated overall with gadrooning, and including silver grip, Paris silver mark, early 18th Century; and a transitional small-sword with slender blade of unusual assymetrical flattened diamond section, iron hilt comprising knuckle-guard, oval side-ring and globular pommel each with central beaded moulding, and short lobe-shaped rear quillon with rosette-shaped button, engraved overall with a reticulated pattern set with silver dots, and later wooden grip (rubbed overall, silver incomplete), circa 1660, probably Dutch
