A GERMAN SPORTING CROSSBOW with steel bow struck with a mark and retained by its original cords (string missing), wooden tiller (slight damage) swelling towards the middle and veneered along the top with panels of staghorn engraved with lines and foliage and at the front with initials (fore-sight missing), small iron stirrup and nut, iron trigger-lever (binding missing), and set trigger, late 16th Century; and sixteen iron crossbow-bolt heads (rust patinated), one retaining its flighted wooden shaft (one flight missing) with later hand-written German inscriptions and the date 1829, 15th/16th Century
