AN 18-BORE FLINTLOCK FOWLING-PIECE with two-stage Spanish barrel dated 1748 and inlaid with silver at the breech, and with two gold-lined stamps of I P Estera of Barcelona, silver spider fore-sight, and gold-lined touch-hole, engraved tang, signed flat bevelled lock with stepped tail (cock replaced), figured walnut full stock with break-off at the fore-end and carved with shells in relief at the barrel tang, engraved iron mounts including pierced and chiselled side-plate and trigger-guard with acorn finial, and horn-tipped ramrod, probably original, by William Bailes, London, circa 1750
