A PAIR OF FRENCH SILVER-MOUNTED FLINTLOCK PISTOLS FOR THE TURKISH MARKET, with two-stage sighted barrels each chiselled in low relief against a gilt fishroe ground at the breech with a standing figure of Acteon beneath a baldachin, silver spider fore-sights, engraved grooved tangs, rounded locks each engraved with a trophy of arms and foliage, and with roller and raised pan, lightly carved figured walnut full stocks inlaid with scrolls, waved lines and swags in silver wire (minor losses, oval panels missing from each fore-stock), full silver mounts cast and chased with martial trophies in relief against a gilt fishroe ground, including trigger-guards with urn finial, and spurred pommels with swags of flowers and foliage, portrait medallions and crescents, the caps each with a star within a laurel wreath, oval escutcheons with a trophy of the chase, each set within an oval chequered panel picked out with silver dots, and silver ramrod-pipes and barrel-key escutcheons (ramrods missing), early 19th Century
