A PAIR OF FRENCH SILVER-MOUNTED D.B. FLINTLOCK PISTOLS, the barrels punched and gilt with rococo ornament, flowerheads and foliage at the breech, along the rib, and around the silver fore-sight, and with two gilt lines around the muzzles, gilt vents, engraved tangs each forming the back-sight, signed flat bevelled locks each engraved with a trophy of arms on the tail, the cocks cut with foliage, highly figured walnut full stocks carved with flowerheads and foliage in low relief behind the tangs and rear ramrod-pipes, cast and chased mounts including spurred pommels decorated with trophies of arms in relief against a fishroe ground, oval pommel-caps each with the bust of a Turk, and trigger-guards and escutcheons with rococo ornament and foliage, turned ramrod-pipes, and original iron-mounted baleen ramrods, by Laborde à Paris, French silver marks, probably Paris, circa 1750
