A PAIR OF SPANISH SILVER-MOUNTED MADRID-LOCK HOLSTER PISTOLS with reblued two-stage barrels inlaid with silver strapwork at the muzzle and breech and with chiselled and gilt girdle between, two gold-lined stamps of Pedro Esteva of Barcelona (Neue Støckel 328, 329), and gold-lined vents, florally engraved tangs, signed flat bevelled locks chiselled with flowers, foliage and the figure of Minerva, all in low relief against a gilt fish-roe ground, and with rainproof pans, carved and moulded artificially figured full stocks, and full silver mounts cast and chased with rococo ornament in relief on a punched ground, the trigger-guards, spurred pommels and escutcheons each decorated with trophies of arms, the last each surmounted by a coronet, faceted ramrod-pipes, and ivory-tipped ramrods each with engraved silver cap (one ramrod replaced), by Joseph Deop of Ripoll, Barcelona silver marks, late 18th Century
