Lot Essay

These pretty clocks first came to the public eye when they were exhibited by Victor Athanese Pierret at the 1851 Great Exhibition. They were so popular that by 1890 some 10,000 were sold, many the U.K. This particular example has all the beast qualities with engraved plates and alarm.
