the nickel plated movement jewelled to the centre numbered 5320633, bimetallic balance with micrometer regulation, the porcelain dial with Arabic numerals, blue steel moon hands and centre sweep seconds, with a rotating central second disc adjusted by the winder, the case with downturned lugs, the hinged back and cuvette numbered 5320633 with engraved motif of the RAAF(now defaced), with London import marks, case, dial and movement signed - 42mm. diam.

Lot Essay

The Royal Australian Air Force insignia to the reverse has been defaced by an unskilled hand. Presumably the watch was stolen form the pilot on being captured.
