Alexandre (1770-1831), Comte and later Marquis de Boisgelin, created Knight of the Order of Saint-John of Jerusalem in 1789, was aide-major of the King's Body Guard and Captain of the Dragoons of the Queen. He emigrated in 1792 and only returned to France with Louis XVIII in 1814. Louis XVIII styled him field marchal and Boisgelin became a Knight of the Royal Order of Saint-Louis and Commander of the Royal Order of the Légion d'Honneur. He was Pair de France 1827-1830.
He married Anne d'Harcourt in 1800, and for a miniature of their son Édouard, see lot 103.
