By family descent from the sitter to the present owner, via Althea Maria de Geer of Godegaard, the daughter-in-law of Johan de Geer's son Johan Jr. (1675-1740). The present miniature is listed in the inventory of her estate in 1764, and a photostat of this document will be joined to the miniature.
