The former collection of the Grand Dukes of Mecklenburg
A tureen similar to the present lot in form, size and weight from the collection of the Grand Dukes of Mecklenburg inscribed 'nr.3-16:5:2' was sold at Dr. Phil. Hans Rudoph, Hamburg, 'Das Grossherzoglich Mecklenburgische Silber', Part 1, lot 65, 28-29 September 1950, ill., and would seem to have been part of a larger set of tureens including those in the present lot.
Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands (1880-1962) married in 1901 Hendrik Wladimir Albrecht Ernst, Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (1876-1934), who hence became Prince of the Netherlands.
