Eugène-Rose de Beauharnais (1781-1824), son of Alexandre Vicomte de Beauharnais and his wife Marie-Rose-Josèphe, called Joséphine, born Tascher de la Pagerie who married Emperor Napoléon after the execution of the Vicomte. Napoléon styled his step-son General in 1804 and made him Vice-King of Italy in 1805. After Napoléon's fall, Eugène found a refuge in Munich where King Max I Joseph of Bavaria, whose daughter Amalia he had married in 1809, gave him the title of Duke of Leuchtenberg and Prince of Eichstätt.
