Sicardi exhibited a posthumous miniature of the Queen in the Paris Salon of 1814, just as his competitor François Dumont. Indeed, the present portrait is clearly influenced by Dumont's miniature of Marie-Antoinette, today in the Pushkin Museum, Moscow (inv. nr 2239).
