A HIGHLY IMPORTANT SINGLE-STONE SAPPHIRE RING

Set with a rectangular-cut sapphire weighing 31.12 carats with triangular-cut diamond shoulders to the 18K gold and platinum hoop

With certificate 9203037 dated 19/3/1992 from the Gübelin Gemmological Laboratory stating that the sapphire is of Kashmir origin

The Kashmir province of India is the source of the world's finest and most sought after sapphires. The blue of the Kashmir sapphire has been compared to the blue hue of a cornflower and has been known to make other sapphire blues seem greenish of greyish in comparison. The kashmire mines discovered as a result of a land slide in 1881, have been virtually exhausted and now estate jewellery pieces are one of the few remaining means of obtaining these gems.
