On plain circular stepped base with a band of strapwork, shell motifs, foliage and fruit above, the body set with coins allaround and surrounded by foliage and stylised ornament, the upper rim with dedication inscription Georg Wilhelm Ludwig Ferdinand Messer von seinem Vater am 20. Juni 1885, den Tage seine Grossjährigkeit and Der ist am glücklisten er sei König oder ein Geringere, dem in seinem Hause wohl bereitet ist, with plain curved handle, the cover decorated with stylised foliate ornaments and set in the centre with a coin, and with eagle-shaped thumb-piece - 38 cm high
