A GUILD BIRD-SHAPED PENDANT
with unidentified marks, sixteenth century

Parcel-gilt, the pendant shaped as a crowned nightingale, with naturastically chased plumage, holding a sleigh bell in its bill; under it is hung a small gilt calvary with the Virgin Mary and Saint John on each side of the Holy Cross; the pendant itself is hung with a flat chain, one of the links chased as a devil's head.
