Emperor Ferdinand I of Austria, with wavy brown hair and sidewhiskers, wearing a gold-figured white uniform with black stock, decorated with the jewel of the Order of the Golden Fleece, the sash and the breast-star of the Imperial Austrian Order of Maria-Theresia, the breast-stars of the Imperial Austrian Orders of St-Stephen, Leopold and the Iron Crown; oval -- 5 cm high, gilt-metal mount

Ferdinand (1793-1875), son of Emperor Francis II of Austria and his second wife Maria-Theresia of Bourbon-Naples, succeeded his father as Emperor Ferdinand I of Austria in 1835 and abdicated in 1848 in favour of his nephew Franz-Joseph. In 1831, he married Princess Anna of Savoy, daughter of King Victor Emmanuel of Sardinia, but died without issue.
