Of rectangular form and oval section, stripped overall with alternating opaque pale lilac and slender with stripes, banded with translucent green laurel leaves set with rose cut diamond berries on a sablé ground, rose cut diamond thumbpiece - 8.2 cm high

Alice Keppel, eight daughter of Admiral Sir William Edmonstone (1810-1888) was born in 1869, at the age of twenty two she married the Hon. George Keppel. In 1898, she developped a unique and long-lasting understanding with Edward VII as a close friend. The king and Mrs Keppel both used cigarette cases by Fabergé; Alice Keppel was a great admirer of Karl Fabergé's work and was instrumental in the creation of Royal collection of Fabergé hardstone animals at Sandringham.
