Fortunato Pio Castellani (1793-1865), Roman jeweler and goldsmith, was influenced by Roman and Etruscan excavations and was well known for his revival of Etruscan filgree and granulation techniques. In 1852, the buisness was taken over by the two sons Augusto and Alessandro who extended the revivalist line of the father reproducing early Italian, Byzantine, Gothic and even Egyptian styles influenced by world exhibitions.
