A DIAMOND AND OPAL DOUBLET BROOCH
Designed as a circular and baguette-cut diamond pierced shield-shaped panel set with two circular-cut opal doublets (one diamond deficient)
This brooch was once the Property of the famous opera singer Frieda Hempel. Born in Leipzig, Germany, in 1885, she moved permanently to New York in 1912. There, she launched her international career, singing with such artists as Caruso, Scotti, Amato, under the direction of Toscanini, Damrosch and Hertz.
