gouache heightened with gold on dark buff paper, of typical form with gold naskh arranged in a central roundel flanked by the names of the Rightly Guided Caliphs with rectangular panels above and below, the interstices decorated with gold and polychrome floral illumination, gold margin between black rules, green-ground meandering vine border, wide blue outer border painted in gold with scrolling acanthus leaves and floral bouquets, (negligible wear, two small areas of retouching), signed below by 'Azmi Hamid al-Amidi and dated 1372, framed and glazed
