Lot Essay

Possibly inspired by a design already adopted on Chinsese export porcelain cf. the cup and saucer in the Victoria & Albert museum Cope Bequest, no. 643-1903. A large portion of the service was in the Ole Olsen Collection, including five dishes of this size. See also Rückert (1966), no. 733 and Pauls Catalogue, pp. 498 and 499
