manuscript on cream paper, 238ff. plus five flyleaves, each with 18ll. of small black naskh, punctuation in red, gold roundels between verses, gold margin between black rules, similar outer margin, occasional marginal notes in black shikasteh, illuminated marginal medallions marking the divisions of text identified in red, sura headings in red on gold cartouches in illuminated panels, (very occasional smudging and staining), opening bifolio fully illuminated in gold and polychrome (blue slightly faded), final folio with colophon signed by 'Abdullah b. 'Ashur and dated Sha'ban 1218, later black lacquer later binding with two colour gold floral medallion and pendants, meandering vine and minor borders, black lacquer doublures with gold borders, black morocco slipcase
