the famous collection of short stories, Persian mauscript on buff paper, 154ff. plus four flyleaves, each with 12ll. of elegant black nasta'liq, often in two columns, gold divisions between black rules, similar margins with blue outer rule, gold and polychrome illuminated panels with gold cartouches throughout the text, (areas of water-marking rarely affecting text, folios slightly trimmed, some panels towards end repainted), opening bifolio illuminated in gold and polychrome with cross-hatched clouds around the text (small areas of fading and flaking, binding split), final folio with colophon dated Dhu'l-Hijja 953 in the Dar al-Sultanah, Herat, with Ottoman 17th/18th century black morocco binding with stamped black and gold floral and cloudband medallion and spandrels (spine repaired, some wear to edges), gold-flecked yellow paper doublures
